Harrisburg – Governor Tom Corbett announced today that AlixaRx, a healthcare services firm, will open a new pharmacy hub in Allegheny County; creating at least 65 high-paying jobs.

“My administration’s message to job creators is simple – the Keystone State is open for business and Pennsylvanians are ready to work,” said Corbett. “Today’s announcement means that 65 new good-paying jobs are coming to this region.”

The AlixaRx pharmacy hub has leased a 12,500-square foot facility in Bridgeville to provide pharmacy services to 38 skilled nursing facilities in the region. The company will invest $1.4 million to purchase new equipment and train its 65 new employees by August 2013.

AlixaRx received a $159,250 funding offer from the Department of Community and Economic Development, including a $65,000 PA First grant and $29,500 in job training assistance and $65,000 in job creation tax credits.
“Opening this AlixaRx pharmacy hub in Allegheny County will allow us to bring a better system of getting medications to patients in post-acute and other healthcare settings,” said AlixaRx President Larry Deans. “The AlixaRx pharmacy hub will improve patient safety, increase access to quality of care, lower drug costs and enhance medication management, while bringing new jobs to the area.”

The project was coordinated by the Governor’s Action Team, or GAT, a group of economic development professionals who work directly with businesses that are considering locating or expanding in Pennsylvania. GAT provides site selection assistance, coordinates the involvement of other state agencies as needed, and packages the appropriate economic development funding for the project.

AlixaRx provides advanced pharmacy services to post-acute healthcare facilities through a new model that leverages technology to deliver medication therapy management. The company’s full-service regional pharmacy hubs use a combination of clinical pharmacists, automated dispensing units, and electronic medication cabinets to meet the medical needs of patients and residents at each facility.
