TOPEKA, Kan. – Kansas Governor Sam Brownback today attended the grand opening of the AlixaRx pharmacy hub located in Lenexa, Kansas. During his visit he toured the facility and commemorated the 42 new high-paying pharmacy jobs created. AlixaRx is a national pharmacy serving post-acute patients and was designed to enhance medication safety, increase access, and deliver cost savings to the entire healthcare system. “I am pleased to be a part of bringing this business and job opportunity to Kansas and the Lenexa community,” said Governor Brownback. “We welcome the opportunity to bring these high- paying, skilled jobs to our state.” In 2012 the Governor signed Senate Bill 134, which authorized the Kansas Board of Pharmacy to approve pilot projects related to any new technology implementation and ultimately allowed AlixaRx to utilize automating dispensing units in long-term care facilities across Kansas. AlixaRx operates a 11,400-square foot pharmacy hub in Lenexa to provide pharmacy services to skilled nursing facilities in Kansas and neighboring states. The company has invested $1.4 million in new equipment and training for their 42 new employees at the facility. As part of the joint effort between AlixaRx and the State, AlixaRx has received more than $30,000 in grant funds from the Kansas Department of Commerce. “Opening our AlixaRx pharmacy hub in Kansas allows us to bring a better medication delivery system to patients in post-acute and other healthcare settings,” said Brad…

Milestone Establishes AlixaRx as an Industry Leader for Automated, On-site Medication Dispensing in Post-acute Care PLANO, Texas, October 24, 2013 – AlixaRx, a national pharmacy that specializes in innovative technology to enhance patient care, is now successfully servicing over 100 post-acute care facilities with its revolutionary on-site medication dispensing systems. This milestone establishes AlixaRx as an industry leader for delivering fully automated, on-site medication dispensing systems to post-acute care facilities across the nation. While many smaller, regional pharmacies have embraced technology to improve patient care, the national pharmacies have been reluctant to change because of their large infrastructure investment to support the traditional punch-card dispensing model.” AlixaRx is the first post-acute care pharmacy with a national footprint capable of offering postacute care providers an on-site medication dispensing and management system that gives clinicians access to more than 300 of the facility’s most commonly prescribed medications.
